Family Medicine professor receives leadership award

Peter Carek, M.D., a professor in the Department of Family Medicine, received the 2010 Nikitas J. Zervanos Outstanding Program Director Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation. This award recognizes a family medicine program director who demonstrates leadership and advancement of the specialty, is a mentor to residents and medical students and provides service to the community as well as to the organizations of the family of family medicine.

Carek has served as the director of the Trident/MUSC Family Medicine Residency Program for the past 15 years.
