In October, the MUSC College of Nursing is participating in a
voluntary, comprehensive, self-study and national accreditation process
of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program conducted by the
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The purpose of CCNE
accreditation is to ensure quality and integrity of baccalaureate and
graduate education programs preparing nurses. Many facets of the
college will be assessed to determine the extent to which the college
achieves the state mission, educational philosophy and
goals/objectives. CCNE serves to assess and identify programs that
engage in effective educational practices, thereby contributing to the
improvement of the public’s health. The on-site evaluation conducted to
assess the college’s compliance with CCNE standards will occur Oct.
18-20.
You are invited to submit signed, written comments about the College of
Nursing to CCNE by Sept. 18. Send all comments to: Commission on
Collegiate Nursing Education; Attention: Amanda Brownbridge,
Accreditation Assistant, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington,
DC 20036-1120.
