Women's club accepting scholarship applications

The Medical University Women's Club is accepting applications for its annual scholarship awards.

All full-time students in their second or subsequent years from any of the six MUSC colleges are eligible and encouraged to apply for the scholarships. Previous applicants may reapply.

Last year 11 students were awarded a total of $10,000. This year the women's club will award $15,000 in scholarships.

The deadline for submission of applications online or at the Volunteer Services Office is 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3.

Applicants are available at the Volunteer Services Office, next to the University Hospital Gift Shop. Applications may also be downloaded from
http://academicdepartments.musc.edu/womensclub/scholarship.htm.

The club's scholarship committee will review the applications and select recipients based on financial need, academic achievement and community and university service. An applicant's transcript, personal statement and letter of recommendation from an MUSC faculty member are required and are an important part of each application.

Recipients will be notified by Sept. 17 and recognized Sept. 22 at the annual membership coffee.
