of Health Professions' atrium, enjoying lunch and ice cream served by
MUSC’s college deans. They also visited with representatives from 17 of
Education and Student Life's programs and services.
More than
450 MUSC students celebrated University Orientation 2010 on Aug. 23.
The Education and Student Life (ESL) event featured the theme, Six
Colleges—One University. The orientation, which was held in two
sessions, took place at the Basic Science Building and the College of
Health Professions.
Students were greeted by Darlene Shaw, Ph.D., ESL associate dean; Mark
Sothmann, Ph.D., interim vice president for academic affairs and
provost; Tyler Pierce, student government association president; and a
team of other campus leaders and faculty. The event
featured the premiere of two videos, one that showcased MUSC and the
other honoring the institution’s points of pride. Throughout the event,
students reviewed orientation material by participating in MUSC’s
version of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” while others received door
prizes (MUSC blankets, T-shirts, water bottles, etc.) from ticket
drawings.
