OVERHEARD AT MUSC
|
Julius
Sagel
What?
Dr. Julius Sagel
That Dr. Julis Sagel so embodies the humanitarian principles medical
students should emulate that the Education in Medicine Award of $500
will go totwo MUSC medical students each year. It was created to honor
Sagel, M.D., who is a professor in the Division of Endocrinology,
Diabetes and Medical Genetics. John Feussner, M.D., chariman of the
Department of Medicine, said Sagel is an outstanding educator, superb
physician and "truly the most humble, self-effacing gentleman I know."
Colleague comment:
"Nothing escapes
his notice and there is no case that is too mundane that some teaching
point cannot be made. He has the incredible talent of asking questions
of the residents and students that make them think through the problems
psoed, but never puts them in a position where they fell they are being
interrogated."
--Florence Hutchinson, M.D., Chief of Staff, Ralph H. Johnson Medical
Center
Quote Sagel's known
for:
The practice of
medicine is a gift and one should never forget it. To practice medicine
is a privilege.
