Runners and walkers can lace up their shoes for the MUSC Healthy Charleston Challenge 2-Miler Run and Walk held Nov. 19 at 8 a.m. at MUSC.
Participants can compete for several prize awards, which include top three finishers; top three by age groups; top master; and top MUSC student finishers. MUSC's challenge is Charleston's version of the Biggest Loser competition, a weight loss and healthy living program. So far almost 700 Lowcountry adults have participated in this program since it began in 2008 where participants have lost more than 16,418 pounds.
Participants can save $5 if they pre-register online or at the MUSC Wellness Center before Nov. 1 ($25 per person). After Nov. 1, registration is $30 per person. Register early to guarantee an event T-shirt and other goodies including a free one-month membership (for non-members only) at the MUSC Wellness Center. Guest membership must be completed by Dec. 31. Early race packet pick-up is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18 and from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., Nov. 19 (race day).
