Bariatric Band Camp slated for Feb. 21



A Bariatric Band Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in Room 1119, Ashley River Tower. The camp is for all post-op gastric band patients who are interested in learning more about good nutrition to maximize weight loss after surgery. Spouses or supports are welcome, but must also register and pay the fee.

The camp will focus on:
  • A review of your new anatomy after gastric band surgery
  • Tips on how to maximize the mechanics of your band
  • The food groups, including hands-on measuring of appropriate portions, taste-testing and cooking tips
  • Grocery shopping, and eating out
  • Exercise goals and realistic expectations
  • Tools for monitoring long-term success        
The $40 registration fee, due by Feb. 14, includes a light breakfast and tastings.

Parking is available in the Courtenay Garage or another MUSC visitor lot and parking will be validated. With a validated ticket, camp participants will pay $.75 per half hour with a $3 maximum.
