Meet Angello Lin, M.D.

Department
Surgery. Division of Transplantation

How long at MUSC
10 years

What music is in your CD player

WOW 2011

Unique talent
I can move my right ear all by itself

Dream job
Helping people to overcome life obstacles without beaurocracy

Favorite color
Blue sky

Favorite TV show
I do not watch TV. However, last Sunday I did see "Extreme Home Makeover" while waiting to start a case. It was good.

Bad habit
Day dreaming

Meal you love to cook
Chinese meatball dish called "Lion Heads"

Role model
Hudson Taylor dedicated his life to spreading the gospel to China. When over 100's of his missionary friends were killed during the Boxer Rebellion, he advocated mercy and forgiveness instead of revenge afterwards.

What do you do on a rainy day
Laying with my kids at home. I used to like to read books with a glass of hot tea and cookies.

Favorite restaurant
Golden Garden on Mt. Pleasant locally. Charlie Trotter's in Chicago overall

Most embarrassing moment
I told a girl who I had a crush on that she "has beautiful looking nipples" when I meant to say beautiful looking dimples. This was when I first immigrated to the U.S. and was learning to speak English. I just learned "dimples" that week and was eager to use the word, but instead...

Favorite place in the world
Hwaliang, Taiwan ... my birth place. It is on the east coast of Taiwan with incredible scenaries and sea foods.

Best thing about living in Charleston
Hear my foreign friends pronounce it "Char-lis-ton" and, of course, the people.

Favorite radio station
100.5 FM

Dream vacation
Sun, water, cool shades and my family

What organ do you enjoy transporting the most
The liver. It is one of the most challenging operations a surgeon can perform with high risks of massive hemorrhage and other complications. Due to its difficulty level, there is a great sense of satisfaction at the end of the case for a job well done. More importantly, the patients will undergo incredible transformation after a successful liver transplantation. It is a priviledge to be part of that process, from near death to living well.

Why did you choose transplantation
It offers the patients a chance for a new, healthy life. It has a similar analogy to being born again.

Greatest moment in your life
I was rescued after nearly drowing in Lake Lanier

Favorite quote
"To love God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And to love your neighbor."
