The fifth annual Chase After A Cure gala, benefiting pediatric cancer research at MUSC, will take place at 7 p.m. on Feb. 2 at the Charleston Marriott on Lockwood Boulevard.
Summerville resident Whitney Ringler began the non-profit corporation after her son, Chase, was diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma in 2009 and was given a 30 percent chance of survival. Chase survived the aggressive form of cancer and his family works to raise money for research.
During the gala, survivors of neuroblastoma will be recognized and those who have passed away as a result of the
disease will be honored.
This year's theme will take guests "Around the World" with international décor, food and music. Tickets are $100 each for the black-tie event and will include food from Wasabi of Charleston, Rue de Jean, Al Di La and Burwell's Stone Fire Grill.
"The money that Whitney (Ringler) has raised is just amazing," said Jacqueline M. Kraveka, D.O., a pediatric oncologist at MUSC. "Only research is going to find a cure. Only research is going to cure childhood cancers."
