G. Donald Frey, Ph.D., professor of radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Commission for the Accreditation of Medical Physics Educational Programs (CAMPEP). He will serve a one-year term.
Medical Physics is the application of physics to the diagnosis and treatment of disease. There are approximately 4,000 medical physicists in the United States and Canada.
The mission of CAMPEP is to insure that the training of medical physicists meets high standards. CAMPEP insures this by accrediting graduate medical physics educational programs, medical physics residencies, and continuing educational programs for medical physicists in the United Sates and Canada.
CAMPEP is sponsored by the American College of Medical Physics, the American College of Radiology, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine and the Canadian College of Medical Physics.
